Newest Album!

I’ve been pretty busy lately;

Getting back from traveling and settling back into a routine

Moving offices at work

Moving furniture in my house (we rearranged our couch and moved a large entertainment system)

But I had time to start another new scrapbook! I always had in the back of my mind that I would make a UK Rifle book when I got more caught up, and since I’m still waiting on Walgreens to run a special on photo prints, now is the perfect time.

So far this is my FAVORITE page. It took quite a bit of time to cut out all the letters and place them on the page, but I love the way it turned out!

W.W.

Last week we scheduled a last minute trip to North Carolina to help with a Wounded Warrior camp. We got started with these camps last year when J and I traveled to California, and since then we’ve been busy working them. This camp was small, about 5 shooters, but we’ve done their trials which can have up to 200 people.

Here’s a page from our first year, and my first trip, to California. I promise we do work on these trips! We also make time to see some sights while we’re out.

Ashlynn’s Baby Afghan

I thought my [almost] new computer had broken last week when the screen wouldn’t turn on. I was terrified because all my pictures are saved on that hard drive. Luckily my awesome J called tech support and got it working again.

On that computer I found this! The first baby afghan I made [2011]. I really liked crocheting all the tiny granny squares… and really hated putting them together to make the blanket. My mom ended up stitching it together for me because I wasn’t quite sure what I was doing.

I do love the end product though!

Sturgis ’13

Today at work I got the opportunity to help with a poker run. It’s a great way to mix up my weekends of doing the same thing over and over again.

In honor of the poker run, here’s my Sturgis layout from last year. I haven’t made very many two-page layouts in the past, so this as an excited set to see come together. I actually got the idea from a magazine and then added my own touches to it.

Pretty Petals

It actually hasn’t been a million degrees with 1000% humidity here lately. It’s almost like spring instead of summer! I actually got to weed some of my flowers without melting outside, and that brings me to my Pretty Petals page.

I love the soft yellow and pops of purple in this page. Plus, I love a page even more when I really love the pictures. Stealing these flowers off the side of the road with my mom was so much fun, and I’m so glad she took pictures for me to scrapbook the memory.

The Carousel

I have always had recurring dreams. Ever since I was a little girl.

Even in my sleep I am obsessive.

The first recurring dream I had begins with me at a fair. There are big colorful tents billowing through the air above me. I’m walking along a dirt path, looking up to see people strolling by with cotton candy and circus men with dark mustaches waving their hands to attract attention. Everything is a swirl of light and color. I’m smiling, and peaceful, because for some reason I know I’m meant to be at this fair.

Then I see the carousel- my favorite part. I must have been walking towards it the entire time; huge magnificent horses rotating past me. I love this carousel. There are white horses with delicate flowers braided in their hair, black horses with stark white teeth and powerful red reins, and even though they slightly scare me, they are all so beautiful to me. I know I must get closer. I get ready to set up onto the stilled platform, reaching up to touch the vibrant colored horses, when I wake up.

Everytime.

I wake up right before I could get on. I’m frustrated. I attempt to re-close my eyes, relax back into that peace, and picture myself taking a giant step up to the platform of the carousel. But my dream kept going, and I’d re-enter my stage of sleep after I’d existed the carousel. I’d already be at the next exhibit- that had something to do with a big orange cat.

I never got to ride the carousel. I always woke up too early, and fell back asleep too late. I didn’t get to experience what it was like to calm my nerves and climb aboard the scary and beautiful horses. The next time I’d marvel at it across the dirt path, sometimes knowing, even in my sleep, I’d never make it in time.

June Update

Wow. I was away from home more this month than I’ve been in a long time.

Unfortunately since I was gone I had to preschedule most of my GB posts this month. Good thing I had that wedding album full of scrapbooking pages!

Between traveling to New York and Nebraska and straight back into the office… I’m ready for this upcoming 4th of July weekend to get back on track with the normal routine.
